The Division of Geomatics is part of the Earth Science Institute (IST) under the Environment, Construction and Design Department (DACD) at the University of Applied Sciences of the South Switzerlad (SUPSI).
The Division of Geomatic undertakes a wide range of cantonal authorities mandates, teaching, and applied research projects in measurement science, geographic information systems, and land and environment management.
The research is undertaken by staff and post-graduates, often with the support of both the private sector and local, state and cantonal government agencies. A large portion of the research is carried out collaboratively with other countries.
The Division of Geomatic at the Earth Science Institute is mainly involved in three different tasks:
- Data managment and application development
- Course Teaching
- Research project development
